Head of Global Logistics Procurement

Are you an experienced freight procurement professional with a strong track record in ocean freight, tender management, contract negotiations and freight index developments? We are looking for a commercially driven negotiator who knows how to challenge suppliers, negotiate complex freight contracts and translate market developments into competitive transport rates.

As Head of Global Logistics Procurement, you play a strategic role within the international supply chain organisation of Heuschen & Schrouff. You are responsible for the complete freight procurement process, from sourcing and tender management to supplier selection and contract negotiations.

You analyse transport flows and develop sourcing strategies across multiple transport modes, including deep sea, short sea, inland waterways, rail and road transport. In addition, you manage logistics solutions across different temperature regimes, including ambient, chilled and frozen goods.

As a key business partner to management and various departments, you provide strategic advice on freight procurement, logistics networks and sourcing strategies. You translate market intelligence, freight index developments and transport data into effective procurement decisions that strengthen both efficiency and scalability throughout the supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Leading international tender processes and sourcing projects for global transport flows;
• Selecting, evaluating and contracting Logistics Service Providers (LSPs);
• Negotiating transport contracts, commercial terms and service agreements;
• Monitoring transport market trends, freight indices and procurement opportunities;
• Developing sourcing strategies across multiple transport modalities and logistics networks;
• Analysing transport data and driving continuous improvement initiatives;
• Increasing transparency, control and efficiency throughout the transportation network through data, reporting and systems.

Wat breng je mee?

• More than ten years of experience in freight sourcing, transport procurement, international tenders and complex contract negotiations within logistics networks; 
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Procurement or a related field; 
• Extensive experience within logistics, international transportation and supply chain environments; 
• Strong knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Order Management Systems OMS) and 4PL operating models, including EDI and API integrations; 
• Proven track record in delivering structural cost savings and strengthening compliance within international supply chains; 
• Experience with procurement platforms such as Coupa and familiarity with AEO compliance requirements; 
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to combine strategic thinking and operational understanding; 
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence management teams and international logistics partners.
